how to make bread dough
(Simple bread dough - Our recipe)

Time: preparation: 20 minutes

500 g (1 lb 2 oz) white flour
Salt
4 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 package active dry yeast
200 ml (7 fl oz - 4/5 C) warm water

Authentic Italian recipe -

  Spoon measures are American spoons, that is standard cook's measuring spoons used in USA.
  The best plan is to regard 2 American teaspoons or tablespoons as 1 English teaspoon or tablespoon (eating spoons)

You can use this dough to make a very simple bread but also to prepare filled pizza or, above all, to realize dishes with pasta, meat or vegetables surrounded with this delicious dough!

Put flour in a bowl or on a work surface. Make a well in the center: add salt, sugar, oil and yeast. Begin to pour in little warm water and with a fork or your fingers gradually incorporate the flour into the water. Keep on pouring in warm water and incorporating flour until a soft dough forms. If you pour in too water and the dough is very sticky, work in a little more flour. Knead the dough on the work surface for 8 - 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Add a little flour, if necessary.
Cover the dough with a napkin and allow to rest in a warm place for about 2 hours.
The dough is ready for your recipe.

If you want to realize a very simple bread, give the desired shape to your dough and then bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15-20 minutes or until the surface is well colored.
