Time:
preparation: 10 minutes
1 Kg (2 1/4 lb) cherries |
|
Spoon measures are American spoons, that is standard cook's measuring spoons used in USA.
The best plan is to regard 2 American teaspoons or tablespoons as 1 English teaspoon or tablespoon (eating spoons)
This recipe needs unstoned cherries.
Remove the stalks from the cherries, wash them in cold water quickly and drain. Put them in a saucepan with the sugar and
cloves; cover. Bring to the boil slowly; this kind of fruit makes water when cooked. Be
careful: when you see water, raise the flame, stir gently and keep on cooking for very few minutes.
If the water is too much, remove it with a ladle. If the cooking time is too long, you risk to make jam
instead of cooked fruit. At the end there must be a little juice. Chill the dessert.
They are very good as a dessert but you can also garnish ice creams with them. In this case the recipe serves 12.
