Time: preparation: some months
600 g (1 lb 5 1/2 oz) medlars |
|
Spoon measures are American spoons, that is standard cook's measuring spoons used in USA.
The best plan is to regard 2 American teaspoons or tablespoons as 1 English teaspoon or tablespoon (eating spoons)
Wash the fruits and dry them very well.
Pour the alcohol into a container with an hermetic seal and dip the medlars. Close the container very well and let medlars soak in
alcohol for 6-8 weeks.
After this period, you have to put sugar in a large saucepan with 500 ml (16 fl oz - 2 C) water. Dissolve sugar in water over a low
heat. Let the solution cool. Mix this solution with the alcohol and medlars very well and let all rest for 12-24 hours.
At this point pass through a sieve and put in very clean and dry bottles.
You can drink this liqueur after few weeks.
