Italy: new trends in Christmas decorations

The hottest new things in Christmas decorations are the upside down trees and black & white decorations.
Black seems to be the dominant colour and not for the party dress. Someone says that if you want to do an elegant, sophisticated Christmas, black is the way to do it. We disagree with this trend. Black is gloomy.
We think the right colours for Christmas are red, green and white that is the winter colours or gold and silver. We like multi-colour decorations and prefer to combine warm colours because Christmas is a typical, family holiday; Christmas is synonymous with love, friendship, peace that is human warm-heartedness. Black doesn't symbolize all that, it's a dead colour!
Look at these two photo; the second one shows the colours we like. If you want to do a sophisticated Christmas, play with warm colours but remember: the most important thing, in addition to the decorations, is your way to plan the holiday and how you are able to make your guests comfortable.
Fortunally in the last years the biggest Christmas shops divide their space into different exhibition areas; each area is dedicated to a particular colour. So everyone can choose his prefered decorations according to his taste.

Another trend of this year is the upside down Christmas tree of all the colours and size. Will it be one of the hottest fads in the Christmas season in Italy?
We think no. It's an original idea but not much applicable in our houses. Too little space for a tree hanging from the ceiling or standing upside down on a stand; and then ... Christmas trees shaped with the tip pointing to the floor ... sincerely we prefer Christmas trees with the tip pointing to heaven.
Some think an upside-down Christmas tree is disrespectful or sacrilegious; we don't think such a thing but prefer to see this kind of decoration in a department store (it leaves more floor space to hold extra stock of decorations) or in the hall of a great hotel; in a word ... in a large space!

One of the most beautiful things for the next Christmas will be Teddy Bears or other stuffed animals such as reindeers, penguins, elks ... or snowman. They are ideal for children and create a particular atmosphere.
We begin appreciating them in Italy too!
